Fall Treats

Since I am pregnant this fall I decided to try to find some delicious treat drinks to enjoy that don’t have coffee (although a decaf pumpkin spice latte now and then is divine) or alcohol. Here is what I found and cannot wait to try!

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate (from Rachael Ray)


  • 4 tbsp. store-bought dulce de leche
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp. coarse sea salt


Warm dulce de leche in small pot; whisk in milk, cocoa and salt. Cook until just starting to simmer

Pumpkin Pie Hot Cocoa (from Rachael Ray)


  • 2 1/4 cups low-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup hot cocoa mix
  • 3 tbsp. canned pure pumpkin puree
  • 1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream


In a saucepan, whisk milk, cocoa mix, pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice; heat until steaming. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream.

Pomegranate Cider (from Rachael Ray)


  • 6 cloves
  • 3 thin slices ginger
  • 5 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 6 sticks cinnamon


Stick 2 cloves into each slice of ginger. In a large pot over high heat, bring the cider and pomegranate juice to a boil with the ginger. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Pour into mugs and serve each with a cinnamon stick.
